Email Subscription Process

Opt-in email newsletters are common place and many email management systems have existed for years. Almost all online businesses have a need for an email management solution. If you are building an email subscription, base what process should you follow? When was the last time you went through your company email subscription process? Have you updated the subscription process to reflect today's standards?

Many businesses employ a system, but fail to monitor or update the system when technology is improved. Follow these simple steps to employ a modern email subscription service:

1. Sign Up
Website visitors enters your website and provides an email address indicating that they would like to subscribe to a the websites newsletter.

2. Confirmation
Newsletter subscribers should be sent confirmation of their subscription. The email should indicate that their subscription request has been received and that in order for the subscriber to receive the materials the subscriber must confirm their subscription.

3. Confirmation Acceptance
Double-opt-in ensures that subscribers truly want to subscribe to the content you are offering. In the confirmation email include a clickable subscription URL that will confirm the subscription when the URL is clicked.

4. Welcome Email and Details
Once the subscription is confirmed, an automatic email should be sent, that welcomes the subscriber. In the welcome email provide a link to the archived newsletters and any introductory offers you wish to make.

5. Subscribe
It goes without saying that you too should subscribe to your subscription newsletter, so that you see what your customers are seeing each time your newsletter is sent.

6. Unsubscribe
Make the unsubscribe process easy, so that subscribers can instantly unsubscribe should they determine the content is no longer of interest.

Make sure that your email newsletter subscription process is modernized and customer friendly.
